We’re not exaggerating when we say that we can’t remember a year of movies better than this one. The prestige dramas were good, the action movies were good, the indie darlings were incredible. There were great superhero movies and great rom-coms and great monster movies and great war movies and even a great musical. Why can’t every year be like 2017 at the movies? Here’s our list of what we think was the best:

Who Qualifies?
Any new movie released between January 1st and December 31st was considered for nomination. Keep in mind that, in this landscape, there’s really no such thing as a straight “comedy” or “drama” so we categorized as best we could in an effort to include as many different films as possible.

Who Picks the Winners?
Our Editors and Staff Writers all get a say but we use your votes for tie breakers and to choose a Fan Favourite so be sure to share your thoughts on Twitter or shoot us an email toronto@myentertainmentworld.ca.

When Are the Winners Announced?
A full list of the winners will be published in April.
