“Born in Romania, Angelica Ganea has always been an artistic spirit, attracted to music and poetry. Before making her way to Canada at the age of 24, she was a child performer and rising star in the Romanian artistic world, active in both, pop and music theatre. Once in Canada, persistence and self-discipline have been her closest companions over the next 3 decades, as she embarked on a journey of healing her heart and re-discovering her passion for music and writing. Angelica graduated from Fitness at Seneca College in Toronto, and worked in the wellness field for over a decade. In parallel, she continued her artistic journey; releasing music and writing books that reflect her sensitivity and inner depth. Angelica is the recipient of the Award of Excellence from Canpak Chamber of Commerce Canada for breaking cultural barriers through singing. In 2003 she started writing music, and in 2010 she released her first original English album titled Remember Who You Are. The album was accompanied by a book of short stories describing her thoughts behind each song on the CD. Remember Who You Are was followed by Classical album Sacred (2015), Christmas (2018), I Believe (2024) and a number of singles. In 2021 Angelica released an international song collaboration titled “We Will Overcome” (written by her husband and manager Giuseppe Mileto) for which she produced the vocals of the 50 participating singers. She is the author of 3 books: Remember Who You Are (Short Stories, 2010), Habits Rule You: One Simple Answer To Achieving Your Nutrition & Fitness Goals (2017) and a children’s book, which she also illustrated, titled Love Is Light: Transmute Fear Into Love (also available in Romanian, Iubirea Iti Da Aripi De Lumina). Currently, Angelica is working on releasing her original single “Love Is Light” (as well as its Romanian version titled Aripi De Lumina), a lushly orchestrated pop/classical song which she wrote and produced, and which is a companion to her children’s book.”

When did you know you wanted to be a writer?

The moment when a slight thought that I might have a passion for writing entered my mind, was when I was in grade 5. We had a class called ‘free writing’ where we were encouraged to write about anything. Back in Romania, the school system was slightly different; during each trimester we were given marks based on two oral examinations. I remember my first oral exam . . . My teacher asked me to read my essay, and when I finished reading she said “From now on, at the beginning of each class, you get up without my asking and read your essay. Then we can start the class.” This was very inconvenient. Reason being, once we got our two marks per trimester, it was extremely less likely we were going to be asked again to read our homework aloud. So we didn’t really do our homework after that: we already got the two marks, why work more? But when my teacher asked me to write an essay for every single class, I loved the idea! That was the moment I realized I loved writing.

Do you remember the first thing you ever wrote?

I was about 10 years old. It was a poem called ‘The Child And The Wise Elder’. I  still have my old little notebook.

How did you develop your skills?

I just kept writing and being honest.

Who are some of your biggest literary influences? Do you have a favourite book/author?

You’ll find books written by authors of various genres in my library; from self-improvement writers such as Napoleon Hill, to memoires authors such as Elizabeth Gilbert, to everything health and wellness. However, my absolute favourite book (which has been on my nightstand for the past 25 years), is A Course In Miracles by Foundation For Inner Peace.

How would you describe your work?

I write mostly about spirituality but I’m also passionate about wellbeing, particularly fitness and nutrition. That being said, whether I write about God or fitness, the commonality is always the pursuit of truth.

What’s your writing process like?

I stop thinking.

Tell us about your most recent book.

That would be my children’s book Love Is Light: Transmute Fear Into Love. Love Is Light tells the tale of the age old battle of darkness and light, the power of fears’ illusionary falsehood, the divine innocence of a child, and the rising of our inherited light to vanquish the fear of darkness within and without. With every step we take there is always a choice we make between Love and fear. We are the ones who decide; nobody else does it for us. Our world would heal instantly if we stopped the blame and took the responsibility of our actions. All that being said, probably the most valuable message ‘Love Is Light’ brings forth is the concept of unity. I believe it is unity in all forms—  within our own selves and with others— that will solve everything.

What are you working on now/next?

Currently I’m working on publishing Love Is Light in two versions: in English, as well as bilingual (Romanian & English). I am also working on releasing my new original single and music video ‘Love Is Light’.
