“16-year-old singer/songwriter Mariel Darling has inspired thousands of young people across the east coast through her performances for major charity initiatives and headlined music festivals. Over the last seven years, she has worked with numerous established producers. Her latest work is called “Unknown”.

When did you know you wanted to be a musician?
I’ve always connected with music. It makes me happy. Since an early age, I knew it was going to be a part of my life.
Are you trained? How did you develop your skills?
I am self-taught. I have taken vocal lessons here, and there. But, I want to stay true to myself as an artist and develop my own unique sound.
Who are some of your biggest musical influences?
I get this question a lot. It’s not who, but what influences me. Music speaks to me, and any song with a good beat, and compelling lyrics speaks volumes to me.
How would you describe your sound?
My songs are like a rollercoaster. They have highs, lows, twists, and turns. I take my listeners on a ride.
What’s your favourite tune in your repertoire and why?
I love singing my own songs. When I create a song, it comes from my heart and soul. The end product becomes a part of me.
What can the audience expect from one of your live shows?
Have a good time. I’m all about engaging with my audience. I like making every person feel like I’m singing to them.
