“Hailing from Nakusp, BC in the West Kootenay region between the Selkirk and Monashee mountains, Mitch Zorn is a true talent, who is primed to make his mark on the Canadian country music scene. After frequent trips to Nashville, Mitch decided to pursue music while working on an electrician contract on both Canadian and American oil fields. In 2018, he started to gain attention with the release of his single “Humboldt,” followed by a full studio EP, and was later named a wild card finalist for the 2023 Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase”
When did you know you wanted to be a musician?
I was raised in a very musical family so we always had instruments around and I was in a band with my dad early on so music was always something that was in my life but I decided around 16 I was gonna make a run at it as a career.
Are you trained? How did you develop your skills?
My father bought a guitar when I was around 9 and taught me a few chords and I YouTubed the rest!!
Who are some of your biggest musical influences?
As a songwriter I’ve always been into the old songwriters like Jim Croce, Jackson Browne, the Eagles, and I was also a huge fan of Rob Thomas and John Mayer.
How would you describe your sound?
I would describe it as mainstream country with some blues and rock elements added in.
What’s your favourite tune in your repertoire and why?
My favourite song to play right now would be a song called “Back To You” off the new record. it’s a little different than any of my other songs and I think it’s the closest thing to what I would call my sound.
What can audiences expect from one of your live shows?
I think they can expect a good mix between singer/songwriter storytelling songs but we always make sure to throw in some upbeat rock/country tunes to keep the energy up!
Where can we find your music?
Anywhere you find music!! You can follow me on my socials and I’ll point you in the right direction .
