20/21 Preview: TV & Movies Based on Video Games

By // TV

When it comes to entertainment, the internet has a lot of things to offer. You can watch time-consuming clips on YouTube, play games with friends or other people online, and more. Another option is to play online slots such as in Spin Palace Casino. Most casinos offer free demos of their games so people can play for free. Real Canadian online casino is also very popular.

But what if you want to experience your favorite video game characters without playing them? This is where the video game movies shine, and oh boy, there’s a lot of good ones coming this 2020. Some are more controversial than the others, but the fans of each franchise unsurprisingly anticipate all. Here are some of the best and most anticipated video game movies that you need to watch this year.

Sonic The Hedgehog

“Sonic The Hedgehog” is an upcoming film that features James Marsden and Jim Carrey. This is a live adaptation of Sega’s most famous title to date, the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. Although it was plagued with backlash at first because of Sonic’s appearance, it has been “fixed” by the production. The redesign was well-received because the familiar Sonic design in-game was used instead. Sonic the Hedgehog will be released on February 14, 2020.

Monster Hunter

Even if you’re not a fan of the genre, there’s a big chance that you’ve heard this game before. Monster Hunter is one of the most popular game titles right now. According to Business Insider, the movie will be featuring Milla Jovovich, who also portrayed a character in a movie adaptation of Resident Evil. In this movie, she will be playing the role of Captain Natalie Artemis of the United Nations Military Team. The movie is slated to be released on September 4, 2020.

Tom Holland managed to make himself known after playing the role of Spiderman in numerous Marvel flicks. But this year, we might see him in a new light, as he will be playing the role of Nathan Drake from “Uncharted”. Although originally meant to be released this year, the movie has been pushed back for three months and will be released on March 6, 2021, according to recent news. Mark Wahlberg will join Holland as Victor Sullivan.

Mortal Kombat

Mortal Kombat is probably one of the most iconic games in the world. Warner Bros. Pictures know this, and what’s more fitting to celebrate the almost 30 years of the franchise than to make a movie? New Line Cinema, which is known for doing movies such as The Lord of the Rings series, The Hobbit, and the Rush Hour franchise, is producing this upcoming film. Tadanobu Asano, Josh Lawson, and Ludi Lin are some of the cast in this film, which will be released on January 15, 2021.

Halo (TV Series)

Are you ready to get some space-fight action and great visual effects? If you missed the experience of going to the Area-51 last year, here’s something that can give you your fix. Although it is a TV series and not a film, it is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2021. And guess what, Pablo Schreiber was cast as Master Chief! The series is expected to have a total of ten episodes.

Metal Gear Solid

Metal Gear Solid doesn’t have a release date yet, but it is one of the most awaited films right now. This is especially after it is confirmed that video game designer Hideo Kojima will be involved in the creative side of the film. Although not confirmed yet, Oscar Isaac is one of the rumored casts.
